Emma Raducanu concludes her season and plans to retain coach through next year.
Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slams this year.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her remaining competitions in 2025 due to the illness that has affected her for the last week and a half.
At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.
These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.
She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.
Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.
She held three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.
The player achieved 28 victories this year and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.
The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions late this year.
Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
