Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
