The British tennis star earned the biggest victory of his professional journey by rebounding from a set down to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz in three hard-fought sets in the second round of the Paris Masters.

While he had earlier overcome Alcaraz on two separate matches, this victory represents Norrie's initial victory over a current world number one.

"Enormous. Incredibly significant for me," commented Norrie, who joins as the latest British man in history to overcome a world No 1. "Bouncing back from injury last year, I lost in the first round of qualifying rounds here. I just sought to appreciate my game in the latter part of the year. To get a triumph like this, it's the biggest victory of my career, my initial victory over the world No 1 and arguably the strongest competitor in the world right now."

The British player, positioned No 31, also ended Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine consecutive finals and 17 straight premier event wins, which marked the finest stretch of performances in the Spaniard's young career.

Alcaraz seemed to be progressing easily to success in the beginning as he sailed in the first set. Nevertheless, the British contender steadily fought his way into the match by serving with improved accuracy and dragging the Spanish opponent into lengthy, grueling exchanges.
