Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was approached by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before running away.
The purpose behind the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Police said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.
"The report indicates the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape showed a individual with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the incident.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"We know they traveled on foot after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to find their destination," added an official.

"Words fail me. I don't have words," she said.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about subjects not many people were ready to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a popular local broadcasting platform.

In a communication, the broadcaster he worked for declared Stock was known for his presence, approachability and intelligent commentary, adding that his legacy "will be remembered".
