Recent Particulars Come to Light Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family questioned several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
The source also refuted published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
