Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
