Triple MVP Nikola Jokic sustains a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic sustained a "devastating" knee injury while the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
Jokic injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an inadvertent collision with teammate Spencer Jones.
His teammate landed on the foot of the MVP, and he promptly collapsed to the floor grabbing his knee.
The 30-year-old, who leads the league season in rebounds and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game before incurring the injury.
The player will have an MRI scan on the following day to assess the extent of the issue.
"Right away, Jokic realized something was wrong," commented Denver head coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Any player who gets hurt, it's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as talented as he is. We will know more tomorrow."
"We will continue together. Clearly, currently, I'm more concerned primarily about him personally and the disappointment of going through an event like that."
